Bible verses about following Jesus

Matthew 16:24 New Living Translation (NLT)
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.

John 1:12 New Living Translation (NLT)
12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

Ephesians 2:8-9 New Living Translation (NLT)
8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

John 8:12 New Living Translation (NLT)
12 Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Romans 5:8 New Living Translation (NLT)
8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 New Living Translation
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

Follower of Jesus

John 1:12 declares, But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

How about some math for you: Believe + Accept = Become.
Having believed Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of a virgin, and sacrificed on a cross for the sins of the world, rising from the dead so that we too may rise to a new life in Him, and now resides at the right hand of the Father awaiting our glorious reunion with Him is what it means to become a Christian. Paul communicates this perfectly in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, "I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

Following Jesus is the commitment to become like Jesus while here on earth. C.S. Lewis brilliantly said, “The role of the church is to introduce a man to Jesus and then make him a little Jesus.” Following Jesus is growing to be more like Him. It’s growing in the truth of Scripture, serving others, sharing your faith, being faithful to church, and living life with other Christians.

As you follow Jesus you’ll quickly realize your most satisfying life is when you are living for Him. As a church, we’re here to help! Let us know of your decision to follow Jesus and we’ll do everything we can to help you become more like Him!

Salvation Prayer

Dear God,
I know mankind needs a Savior,
and I know I can’t save myself.
Jesus, I believe you’re the Son of God;
I believe you died on the cross for my sins,
and God raised you from the dead.
Right now, I confess you as my Lord,
as my Savior, as the one who forgives me
and restores me.
Thank you, Jesus– my past is forgiven,
and I have a relationship with you.
I’m a new creation in Christ
because I’ve said YES to you.
